Coast Guard

Come down to the jetty area and see the various equipment that the Canadian Guard Coast uses for Search and Rescue, Aids to Navigation, and other operations on our coast. Feel free to ask questions on becoming a crew member on board our vessels, including mates, deckhands, engineers, and cooks, just to name a few. Various small vessels will be available to tour both in the yard and on the jetty. Both Natural Resources Canada and Ocean Sciences will also have displays on in the jetty area.

Down on the jetty, we will have the CCGS Sir Wilfred Grenfell available for tours (photo to the right). Come see what science is conducted at sea on the aft deck and then head inside to check out what life is like on board a vessel.

For visits on any of the vessels, closed-toe shoes are required by all visitors, including kids (no sandals, Crocs, flip-flops or other open-toe shoes). Shoes with any sort of raised heal are not recommended due to the unevenness of the deck and gratings. Please note corridors on board are narrow and there are no elevators on board. Strollers are not permitted, but may be left on the jetty while you tour the vessel. Footware will be checked before boarding the Grenfell. Photos are welcome, but drones are not permitted.
