The Institute of Ocean Sciences (IOS) in North Saanich is home to the federal departments of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) and Natural Resources Canada (NRCan). This year IOS is celebrating two milestones in Canadian history: 150 years since Confederation and the 175th anniversary of the Geological Survey of Canada (GSC), which includes the Pacific Geoscience Centre (PGC). To honour these events, the Institute will host an Open House. June 1-2, IOS will provide scheduled tours for school groups only. June 3-4, IOS will be open to the public (9:30am to 4:30pm), with public tours, children’s activities, and a free speaker series.
Parking on site is limited, so we encourage people to use our free shuttle service between McTavish Park&Ride and IOS (Saturday and Sunday). Accessible parking will be available on-site however.
